What is Mobile-X?

Since 2007 the communications market has been striving for a mobile product that can integrate with a PBX. All of the top PBX manufacturers have now developed clever mobile extension solutions using standard mobiles and clever PBX functionality using DTMF or special clients giving the user the ability to twin their mobile phones with their DDI or deskphone. These solutions also allow the user to control the call by transfering it or forwarding it to voicemail. Mobile-X is not competing with these solutions, it enhances them by replacing mobile number and mobile contracts with a Skyrack Mobile-X DDI based SIM. The functionality of the PBX Vendors’ FMC solution is untouched.

The VoIP vendors and Service Providers have also beenĀ in the Fixed Mobile Convergence market. Various third party apps and clients have hit the market working over WiFi through various VoIP platforms. In the early days these solutions were extremely clunky and would only work on one WiFi hotpot, if at all. Today these apps do work to some degree and do provide good service; for example Counterpath’s BRIA softphone works well on the iPhone or on laptops whether on 3G or WiFi. However, these apps are always relient on good 3G or WiFi coverage and don’t handover well.

The Mobile vendors are also in the space with Vodafone offering the proviso of merging landlines with Mobiles. However, when you call the person back the mobile number is presented so which number does your customer save? the landline on your card or the mobile number on his missed calls list? A bit confusing I think.

Mobile-X is different. Mobile-X is the World’s first TRUE contract-less mobile PBX extension. Customers can chose to have standard geographic DDI’s as their main Mobile-X numbers, they can have 07 numbers if they wish or they can have a mirrored DDI that works in conjunction with a Broadsoft platform based desk phone. We can even provide an 07 number as a DDI for the deskphone with this service too if you just can’t lose that mobile number.

So, make a call from your Mobile-X and your caller sees your DDI (01x, 02x). So, when you call a customer back they see your DDI not some ghost mobile number. If the caller calls your DDI and you are near your desk, press *11 on your deskphone handset (Polycom, Cisco, Yealink, Gigaset, Mitel, Samsung, Avaya, Siemens, Panasonic, Grandstream, Aastra, Snom etc…) and the caller is switched back to your deskphone.

So, with Mobile-X you can get rid of your expensive mobile contract, you can get rid of the mobile numbers (or keep them if you wish) and simply promote just one number. The cost savings should be very significant and the functionality is second to none. The coverage is strong and getting better and better and winning countless awards for quality of service.
