High Definition |

Get your message through in crystal clear HD.
Skyrack Voice Connect services deliver High Definition call quality for regular call services as well as conference calling.
High Definition HD calls are available at no extra cost across our network, and with no impact on your service.
- High Definition call quality brings a new dimension to telephone calls making for much easier listening, clearer conversations and easier participation in multi-line conference calls.
- Conference Calling subscribers will benefit from the incredible clarity across many participants that in the past has made large, multi-room, multi-site calls traditionally a problem.
What is HD?
- Difficulty recognizing “fricative” sounds like “s” and “
- Problems distinguishing “m” from “n” and “p” from “t”
- Inability to hear the fundamental resonances in spoken vowels
- Understanding different accents can be difficult
HD Voice uses wideband codecs
- Doubles sampling rate from 8 to 16khz (8khz range has been a restriction since the 1930’s)
- Extends bandwidth range (captures more of the sound that the human ear can hear)
- From 200 Hz – 3.4 kHz to 50 Hz – 7.1 kHz
Substantially higher voice quality, Superior Clarity, Intelligibility and Richer Sound

Which IP phones support HD Audio?
A wide variety of IP telephone sets from major manufacturers such as Cisco, Avaya, Nortel, Mitel, Siemens, Shortel, Polycom, SNOM, and 3COM support HD Audio.
Skyrack recommends in particular the Polycom IP335 and Cisco 504.
Can I use Skyrack conference bridges if I don’t have a wideband phone?
Yes, Skyrack conference bridges work with all telephones. However, if you have an IP phone and you’re directly connected to Skyrack, you will get an enhanced audio experience. Similarly if you have an IP phone AND it supports wideband, you’ll be able to receive HD Audio.
What audio codecs does Skyrack HD support?
We currently supports G.711 and G.722. Support for other wideband codecs is planned in the near future.
Why don’t you support the G.729 codec?
We do not believe that the G.729 codec allows Skyrack to meet our high quality audio standards for conferencing. Remember, you can always access Skyrack by dialing a traditional telephone number regardless of the codec you are using.
Can I use a softphone client to access Skyrack?
Yes. To access Skyrack using a softclient you would enter the telephone number and we work out all the rest.
